It was fun while it lasted....

You remember that CARP business; the royalty fees that are going to be imposed on streaming audio over the Internet? Well, tomorrow the Librarian of Congress releases the final royalty rate. Regardless of what happens, Internet broadcasters all over the nation are going to have to dig into their wallets and pay fees. So I urge everyone out there who listens to any Internet radio station (via live365.com, Shoutcast, Yahoo!, etc.) to blast the volume and enjoy it while it lasts. It is likely that a good percentage of broadcasters will have to shut down.

The only action you could take is to contact the DJ of your favorite station and tell him/her how much you enjoy it; if broadcasters feel that they have enough interested listeners, then perhaps they will find a way to pay the new fees.

How will this affect my own stations? I'm not sure yet. If you listen to the Late Bar Radio streams, stay tuned to the main page and the announcements for information....

Can you tell I'm depressed?
