This broadcast will likely never air again. DJOktober still retains the original WAV and MP3 files for personal use only. You can find 18 selected tracks released on CD in 2006 called Only After Dark. The legacy lives on in the monthly Only After Dark nightclub event. For more information, see http://only-after-dark.co.uk Fun Fact: The broadcast was burned onto audio CDs with custom artwork and sent by John's request to all five members of Duran Duran shortly before their reunion. The only physical copies of the original show are in their possession (or were!).

A Night at the Rum Runner is a broadcast inspired by the nightclub of the same name in Birmingham, England. John Taylor and Nick Rhodes grew up together in Birmingham and formed Duran Duran in 1978. Their days at the Rum Runner mark the turning point for the band -- where Duran Duran set up shop in 1980, rehearsing upstairs and playing the club downstairs. The club owners would become their managers and take them to their peak of stardom in 1984. But back in 1980, the five original members earned their keep around the club -- clearing glasses, cleaning tables, and even DJing by the art student turned keyboardist, Nick Rhodes.

A Night at the Rum Runner is a special radio stream by John and Nick. Together they have put together a playlist that recreates the Rum Runner in 1980 -- tracks that inspired John and that Nick spun on the turntable. 20 years after their days at the nightclub, they have come together to bring you this special broadcast.

The broadcast is a four hour pre-programmed loop. All tracks were chosen personally by John and Nick and mixed by yours truly, DJOktober. The playlist is mixed smoothly just like you would hear at the club. The complete list of songs and artists will be posted on this page after September 15th.

A Night at the Rum Runner originally ran as a holiday broadcast from December 22nd, 2000 to February 4th, 2001. However, due to the popularity of the broadcast, we brought it back to the Internet airwaves on June 12th, 2001. Due to extenuating circumstances the broadcast was shut down on September 15th, 2002. Stay tuned to this website for information on possible rebroadcasts.
